In order to tame the engine, the NIKEN features a complete range of technologies to boost rider confi- dence and performance, most notably their proprietary ride-by-wire throttle system, adjustable throttle mapping, traction control and ABS. Integrated cruise control is at the rider’s convenience at any moment in addition to a factory quickshifter, ensuring a smooth ride from gear-to-gear and allows on-throttle upshift- ing without the clutch to prevent loss of drive. The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle System calculates the optimal valve opening based on the engine’s rpm at the slightest twist of the throttle, achieving a feeling of maximum rider control. The proprietary D-Mode system allows the rider to choose their preferential engine character for the riding conditions, offering three throttle valve control maps to choose from. The traction control system provides two options to suit various road conditions, and it can be disabled altogether if the rider chooses. A high contrast all-LCD display provides a clear display of engine and road speed, electron- ic systems such as traction control and D-Mode, fuel reserve trip meter, economy and more.
