The chassis and suspension is regularly the most important part of a motorcycle, and that might be doubly so with the Yamaha NIKEN due to the advanced LMW system, produced as a result of countless hours of engineering and testing. The radical front end uses paired fork tubes for each front wheel and steering linkage, providing ideal steering geometry as well as an organic feel be- hind the bars. It behaves precisely like a conventional motorcycle, but it offers twice the front end grip, and it features adjustable compression and rebound damping as per usual. Although there’s double the trouble at the front of the bike, the NIKEN is no wider than traditional motorcycles
at 16.1 inches and it serves as a perfect bike for the city or various urban riding conditions. It’s maximum lean angle sits at an impressive 45 degrees and the ergonomics of the cockpit design promote an upright riding position along with a narrow body. An all-new hybrid frame design is used to link the rear wheel to the revolutionary LMW system, utilizing steel castings and tubes with a lightweight aluminum swingarm and pivot area. The rear suspension (complete with fully adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping) features a linkage-type Monocross shock, mounted below the seat with nearly horizontal alignment, contributing to mass centraliza- tion and a sleeker design.
