THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
pack that was raring to go. Gibson’s flawless starting technique shot him off the line, where he could be found quickly shifting into third, fourth, and even fifth gear around the longest portion of track. He would continue to stretch the lead on Evrett Clarke, never once feeling too pressured from the Utah native behind him. His maturity that of a top profes- sional on television, was something that could only be found in the up- per echelon of talent. Crossing the line, he was eager to get back to the truck to assess, and rehydrate, pre- paring himself for the second moto that awaited. Gibson would spring out of the hole in third place, trying to dive to the inside of this start straight sweeper. Blowing out berms at the top of these bowl turns, all turn that could be found within his path, was now tossed to the way side, and into the grassy infield. He was spraying brown bullets from his rear tread, saying beware to anyone that came near. With Clark making his way into the lead, they would both make their way around earlier leader, Nathan Hummel. Hummel would fall to third, pushing Gibson to second, where only Clarke would be ahead. He would cross the final line in second place, strong enough for second overall. He was so stoked on his ride, but he knew deep down, it sparked the fire to claim more championships in the near future. As the year winds down, both he and team made a pact to hit the training harder than ever, ready to come out swinging at the next stop on their scheduled programming. Mini O’s could be a possibility, the Spring nationals are always in top contention, and of course, Loretta Lynn’s next year is the one they’re really zoning in on.
