MARK FINEIS >>
The number 105 KTM was at it again for this specific division of 85cc racing, and looking to come home with a solid finish. With riders like Gavin Towers, Trevor Colip, Gage Wilcox, and Colin Allen, he knew that his work would be cut out for him, in order to garner a finish that would be held up to his past standards. But being the cham- pion that he is, he marveled at the sight of a challenge. For the first moto, he would begin the moto in fourth place, looking
to remain as close to the front as he could. And that’s exactly what he would do, reiterating his notion to be the best as each lap would dwindle away on the
charts. Fineis, dipping into the two minute range on the laptime chart, would have Colin Allen just in front of him. Acting as the dangling carrot, Fineis would reach out to take a bite of the number 35’s position, but would come up just a tad empty hand- ed. It was a masterful perfor- mance he was conducting, hit- ting all his lines, and completing every jump necessary in order to race solid. At the final flag,
he would be placed in fourth
position, and look to duplicate for moto number two. A better start had him residing in the third place spot to begin the second moto, where he would be just behind Gavin Towers and Trevor Colip. The three would lead the field lap after lap, with the first two swapping positions on con- secutive laps. Fineis would monitor, sitting back and waiting patiently. By lap three, he was already beginning to figure out the track, as his best lap time would be set at the halfway point. With the heavy hitters all in tact, Gilmore would be a mere six seconds away from the lead on the white flag. But there would be no sign of surrendering, as he would push until the absolute finale of this highly contested series. With the summary reading Towers, Colip, and Fineis his individual moto finishes would place him into third overall. His overall finishes were truly begin- ning to stack up and average together. A constant staple at the front
of the field, he really was always a contender when he chose to sign up for a particular class. Thanking his sponsors, Fineis is a grateful individual who realizes that he couldn’t be here without his team. They look to seek out the biggest, toughest pieces of competition they can find in the near future, and come away with positive results.
