Making the drive from Bay City, Michigan, Landry Hazen tried her best to outrun the cold tempera- ture of the Wolverine state, and into the land of Cowboys and Sooners, known as Oklahoma. With warm temperatures and sunny skies wel- coming them to the land of the plains, Hazen’s attitude was as bright as ever when rolling into the gates of the facility. Marveling at the bells and whistles of this extraordinary event, the whole family couldn’t wait for her to test her skills and put her throttle to the dirt on the racetrack. A third place start to begin the moto, had her slowly inching her way up through the pack. Second lap two, it was all she could do to keep this rocket ship underneath her, yet with her strength and will to win, she would conquer the feat. Running her fastest laptime on lap number three, she would hit the pristine two minute, four second mark, and look to duplicate on the final go around. The track was getting awfully choppy, but her style would flourish throughout the series of moguls that littered the track. She was seemingly all by herself, where it’s easy to get lost and back the pace down. Yet she stood her ground, and continued to push until she was forced off the track by officials. The checkered flag had flown, and she rode her absolute heart out, wanting more and more. A proud effort, she would look to duplicate a strong showing for the second moto of the day. A third place start would have her just behind Kyleigh Stallings to begin the moto. She would trail stallings for the following lap as well, where she would brain storm and imagine the perfect spot to make the move. She decided to launch and go for the pass on lap three, where she’d throw down the fastest lap in the process. It was a mistake free moto, and she continued
to charge after the white flag. One more time around, and second place overall would be
hers. Soaring through the air one final time, she would come across the line with smile and cheer throughout her emotions. She rode phenomenal, and her camp couldn’t have more proud of her efforts. A second overall was truly a strong show- ing, especially at event of this magnitude. She looked forward to bask in her glory on the ride home, knowing that she’d just stood out on the national circuit.
