TAYLERALLRED Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Champion
It’s quite the rare accomplishment for a rider to win back-to-back years at the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship, but that’s exactly what Tayler Allred did in 2016 and 2017. The Utah native won the Girls (9-13) division as well as the Girls (11-16) division, proving that she’s got what it takes in order to be a champion of the highest order on multiple occasions. Allred was coming into the 2018 Loretta Lynn National Motocross Championship
as the defending champion and one of the clear favorites in the Girls (11-16) class, but it wouldn’t be a stroll in the park for the Team Dunlop Elite rider ei- ther. In addition to her entry in the Girls class, Allred would contest the Women (12+) class aboard her Supermini for the second year in a row, showcasing her racecraft and her corner speed against a class stocked with much more power- ful machines. Racing got underway in the Girls (11-16) class and Allred im- mediately found herself in a fierce battle for the win that came down to the very last lap of the race. She chopped and changed positions with Jazzmyn Can- field all the way until the white flag, passing one another back and forth, before a bike malfunction began to affect her race. Smoke poured from Allred’s KTM and she was forced to nurse the bike around to the checkered flag, unwillingly settling for second position. Nonetheless, the winner was docked for wrongfully cutting the track, promoting her to the number one spot. In the second moto, there was significantly less battling for position as she kept the competition behind her for the entirety of the race, leading each and every lap on her way to the moto win. In that case, she made things easy on herself heading into the final moto as she knew that the win wasn’t going to determine the champion- ship outcome. Allred sat comfortably behind Canfield in the third race and let her take the moto victory, crossing the line in second position in order to clinch her third Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship, as well as her third consecutive number one plate on the trot.
