18 THE PULSE • ISSUE FOUR
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider was able to claw his way back to twentieth position by the end of the race and salvage one valuable championship point, but it was all for naught as he requires surgery on his labrum and will miss the remainder of the season. A titanic battle took place at the front of the pack between the Martin brothers; Alex led the first half of the race and Jeremy looked for every possible avenue into the lead, but there was no way around the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM. Eventually, he was able to make the move at the halfway mark and take the checkered flag and the overall victory, moving him into first place in the points ahead of Plessinger. The 450 class was fairly straightforward as it might be for the remainder of the season -- Tomac, Roczen, and Baggett finished in that very same order in both motos as the Kawasaki rider continued his dominant form from the first two rounds. The superhuman recovery of Roczen following two consecutive injuries as well as Baggett’s resurgence after a couple of challenging first rounds was impressive, but still not enough to challenge Tomac. The Colorado native was determined to take his first premier class overall on home soil and he did just that, extending his unbeaten run to six straight motos as he reinforces his command of the title hunt.
