With pristine Michigan soil groomed to perfection, and dozer tread all around, 250 heat one was underway. Bowers held a line of forma- tion down the inside chalk, and scurried his way around turn number one, inheriting the lead to begin the event. The stature and leg length of Bowers allowed both knees and core to absorb the spring of the steep whoop section, where he would increase his gap every lap. A near flawless sprint, Bowers would hold on to the lead, take the win, and prepare for the big show.
