Although this is the story for almost every motocross rider, this is not the case for Tallahassee Florida’s Josh Cartwright. Josh has found a way to attend college as a full time student during the week and
compete as a professional SX rider on the weekends. This type of drive and motivation should not go unnoticed. Winning a Loretta Lynn’s title while finishing high school, Josh proved immediately that he can be a champion without being homeschooled. He is currently attending Florida State University (FSU) and is majoring in Computer Science. Taking classes such as Computer Programming, Pre-Calculus, Spanish and Psychology, it is truly amazing that he can stay focused on all of this work and continue to race at the highest level. If working on his school assignments during the week wasn’t hard enough, he is also grinding away at non other than Ricky Carmi- chael’s farm and training just as hard as his fellow competitors. Josh has provided himself with all the tools he needs to be successful and has already put in impressive results early in his professional career. He has proven to be a guaranteed main event rider in the 250 East Coast SX Series and finished a career best 15th overall last weekend in Toronto. The speed and effort he has displayed in three short weeks has earned himself a ride with Blue Buffalo/Slater Skins Yamaha for the remainder of the season. Whether or not the Florida native makes a career out of motocross, the future looks bright for Josh Cartwright.
Round eleven of the Monster Energy Supercross series did not go as planned for Josh Cartwright. The Blue Buffalo/Slater Skins Yamaha rider unfortunately dislocated his shoulder in a crash during his practice in Detroit and could not compete in the night program. He hopes to
return to racing in a few weeks in Indianapolis.
