Justin Barcia’s season has not gone the way he and his JGR Auto Trader Monster
Energy Yamaha had hoped. A thumb injury suffered the week leading up to the first round at Anaheim hindered Barcia at the first two rounds resulting in poor finishes. Watching him it was clear he did neither
look comfortable nor 100%. So after those first two races, Barcia decided to not strain his thumb injury even further and opted to have surgery. It was a smart move to preserve his health but it would take him out of the championship indefinitely. Fast forward a few months and Barcia has recently been cleared to get back riding and training again. We are hoping that it is a sign that he may be able to return to supercross this season as we’ve missed his signature Bam Bam style during the races.
