Martin Davalos wasted no time getting back up to speed after missing the race last weekend. Martin qualified 3rd and went into the night show ready to start making up the points lost from last weekend. In 250 Heat 2, Davalos nearly got the holeshot, coming around the first lap in 2nd. He rode a quiet Heat and finished 2nd. The stage was set for
the 250 Main and Martin was ready to redeem himself. When the gate dropped for the stacked race, Davalos was not able to grab his usual good start and came around the first lap running 10th. By lap 3, the Husky rider had clawed his way up to 8th, but a small mistake would drop him back. He got back going in 10th place and put his head down, frantically trying to gain back the points he needs to be in championship contention. By lap 9, Davalos was able to make quick work of the riders who got back in front of him and he was running 7th. He kept on charging and was able to make some clean passes over two more riders and ended up crossing the finish line in 5th. After such a rough race, Martin should be very happy with a top 5. After the two week break, Davalos will assuredly come back with vengeance at Indy.
