Roczen didn’t make it easy on Tomac by staying really close. Charging hard through a rough sand sec-
tion Tomac almost threw it all away, losing his footing and almost throwing himself over the bars. Luckily he turned the throttle and saved it, maintaining his lead. Only 11 minutes left of the race Tomac washes his front tire out in a turn causing him to go down. Moving at what seemed like warp speed he was off the ground and side by side with Roczen. Charg- ing hard to pass back into the lead a lapper got in the way of Roczen giving Tomac that extra space he needed to lock down
the pass. With just two minutes left of the race Tomac had a 2 and a half second lead on Roczen. A few lappers get in the way making the gap tighter, but the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was able to hold down the front finishing the second moto in first. Battling the entire race for the lead Tomac was able to lap 29 riders over half of the field. Going 1-1 in the motos Tomac got the overall today and was the first person to slow down Roczen’s very dominate season.
