Roczen didn’t have the speed to retaliate and would end up a distance second for the first time all year.
Roczen made some big bike changes, including swapping out the forks, in hopes of a better performance in moto two. He got a better start in third and within half a lap he was in the lead. He knew Tomac was close behind so he tried to runaway. Tomac didn’t have any of that and close back up on his rear wheel and the two had a great battle. Tomac eventually hammered around the outside to secure the lead halfway through the moto. Roczen didn’t get gapped this time and seized an opportunity a few laps later when Tomac washed his front end to re- gain the lead. The lead would be very short-lived as Tomac grabbed a handful of throttle and moved back into the lead. From there Roczen remained very close and nearly made a move on the final lap but would ultimately end up second. It was the first time Roczen has been beat straight up this year and one can only imagine he will return next weekend at Millville with a vengeance.
