Go into any local motorsports shop, and talk racing with a round of mechanics, fans, and riders alike. You’ll see that many will persuade you that there is a “certain” brand of machine that is favorable in comparison to others. And you “must” have the equipment in order to be consid- ered a contender.Ty Masterpool is the asterisk to that rule. The young man can adapt to any track, circumstance, or machine, and come away victorious; and Loretta Lynn’s 2017 was true testament to that. Riding aboard the lesser known TM machine, Masterpool obliterated the field for lap number one of the opening moto, leading by five seconds at the stripe. Clearly setting the fastest lap of the moto, with an exceptional 2:01, he continued to carve the track with textbook technique. Each lap, he would pull just a little more from the number 34 of Jarrett Frye, eventually leading by 11 seconds, and taking victory. His camp praised the first moto ride, knowing that he could reciprocate for this round as well. Clicking through the transmission down the start straight, he catapulted into the lead for the green flag. Yet again, taking the fastest lap, his 1:58 on an 85cc machine was unbelievable. Mumford tried his best to rev the Honda into his mindset, but the Paradise, Texas native was
