Dillan Epstein had a shaky night in Arlington. The Californian racer
started the day with an average 28th qualifying effort in practice and
looked to improve on that mark in the heat race.
Epstein got off to a good start in his heat race and was fighting for position just inside the top 9 and was in a transfer spot. He was holding onto the final transfer position after going back and forth with multiple riders until late in the race when Cooper Webb got by him after he got stuck in the gate at the start. Epstein would not be able to retaliate and get back into a transfer spot. He would actually lose a few more spots and have to try his luck in the last chance qualifier. The holeshot is a major key in supercross, especially in the LCQ, and Epstein was not able
to execute a good one and he would be forced to fight from behind. After coming around the first lap in 9th place he was only able to charge to 6th and would just miss the top four transfer spots to the main in the short four lap race. Epstein will have a lot of time to bounce back after missing the main event as the west coast series takes a month and a half off before the next round in Santa Clara.
