KADE JOHNSON
One thing that’s captivating about this division, is the picture of how close both mechanic and rider are, connecting with such a bond as they go to the gate. The coach, teaching the rider how to get the shifting down pat, must be there to support, encourage, and lean on, in times of need. When the mix is right, you must watch
out, as guys like Drew Adams have really broken the mold, and shown what a rider of this age can do, with the right team around. For heat one, Adams wanted to wash away his mistake in the modified divi- sion, and he would do so. Taking an early lead, never looking back at his opponent
of Diesel Thomas. Thomas, would fend
of Luke Fauser until the finish, resulting
in the final placing of the top three. The next heat, would be the “Johnson” show, as both Kade and Bradyn would assert themselves into the front of the field. Never wavering outfront, Texas’ Kade Johnson manualing skills through the rollers was absurd, gracefully hovering the front wheel a mere inches above the Florida surface.
It was little bouts of explosion like this, that would propel him to victory, with Bradyn finishing an astounding second at the final line. There must have been something in the water down here, as Kade Johnson seemed to be on point, from the moment he checked into registration. The gear, the setup, graphics, all looked meticulous, and his speed on the bike coupled the perfect combination. If you look like a champ, you’ll ride like one, and his main event perfor- mance was true indication of that. An early lead saw him throw caution to the wind, with the number 300 of Adams knocking on his door. Johnson, stingy with his deadbolt, never even checked the peephole to see who was there. His attention was on the gold the entire time. The bike, bouncing side to side in the potholes leading up to the finish line, was nothing to waver the focus of the Husqvarna rider. He wanted to literally keep the 65 singing, for as long as he possibly could. It was a bold strategy, and it paid off, as he would go on to set the fastest lap of the moto, and never even get a whiff of anything other than the lead. His smirk on the podium was priceless, he’d been there before, and it was almost if he knew guaranteed, that he would arrive yet again, very soon.
