riders like Timmy Ferry, Michael Clarke, and Taylor Painter would
be heavily favored from betting odd’s. The ticket to win, also known as Ferry, had a rough early going, finding himself 13th after lap one, and looking to move ahead into the field. The other top Floridian, Clarke, leapfrogged his way from third to first, prior to the green flag’s conclu- sion, pushing Painter into second, and Utah transplant Dave Ginolfi into third. With the top six nipping at each other’s heels, this train of original tact would never derail, remain-
ing the same from start to finish, with Michael Clarke smooth sail-
ing out front; he would look to repeat for round number two. The second gate drop had fallen, and it was Clarke again who would run the field from the front. Painter, chasing him as though he was the dangling carrot, was doing all
he could to lug the 450 around the track. Inside, outside, everything was just a notch off of the number 199. Clarke, looked so comfortable in this atmosphere. Flick- ing over the tabletop before his final quest of the mechanic section, you could almost hear the scream under his helmet, as he was be- yond ecstatic. He’d done it, taken the champion- ship away from some
of the biggest names at the event, and looked to keep the ball rolling as the week continued.
