Now once we’ve ventured into this vet class, you’re finding riders that have ridden much of their careers on the foundation of 2-strokes. A different breed of machinery all together, it’s reflected in their riding style. As the four-stroke, although much more of Cadillac torque you could say, seems to be more comforting to ride, their roots of clutch feathering and RPM loading will go away completely. You here these seasoned pilots fighting tooth and nail in each bowl turn, all the while stabbing the left lever with dyer intention. Guys like Timmy Ferry have mastered this art, never missing a lick of speed in the process. Glancing onto the television of any particular Supercross program during the late 90’s, and early 2000’s, you could see Ferry constantly in the hunt for the top step of the podium. And judging by his first moto ride at the Mini O’s, it was though he’d never took time off. The initial victory of the week wouldn’t come without heat, however, as John Grewe found himself gnawing on the plastic of the 15 machine, yet never being able to find a straight-shot by. Inside, outside, he was scurrying around the Floridian canvas with feverish intent, yet the poise of Mr. Ferry would remain constant. Lap after lap, he would lead, eventually resulting in the checkered flag, with Grewe a mere half-second off of his rear wheel. Pennsylvania’s Greg
