Arnaud seemed to take a liking to the European style track of Southwick and was looking smooth in prac- tice. He qualified 8th and was ready to do battle in Massachusetts. When the first moto began, Tonus was
ready, and got off to a great start. He was running 4th place early on. He was leading a train of Pro Circuit Kawa- sakis and doing everything he could to stay in front of his teammates. As he started to creep up on 4th place Oldenburg, Arnaud
was starting to go really fast. Tonus was able to make the move on Oldenburg and was now sitting in 4th place. He kept his head down and continued to charge. It paid off and he started to creep up on the battle for 3rd. Just passed the halfway point, Arnaud was pressuring Plessinger and it looked like he would make the pass. Suddenly, Arnaud passed not one, but both riders and secured 2nd place with about twelve minutes left on the clock. Unfortunately, a hard charging points leader in Cooper Webb made his way up to Tonus and made the pass. Arnaud would settle for 3rd, matching his best finish of his American career. In the second moto, Arnaud got a decent start and was scored in 8th after the first few corners. He made his way into 6th quickly and it seemed he would settle in and just try and put down some clean, fast laps. Then, just passed the halfway point, Arnaud’s work paid off, as he was able to break into the top five. He was now sitting in 4th just ahead of Savatgy. With just two laps to go, Arnaud made a small mistake and found himself making snow angels in the Massachusettes sand. Luckily, Savatgy went down as well and when Tonus got back up , he was running 9th. He would finish 8th and look to next weekend to get back up on that podium.
