Luke Renzland seemed to like the sandy conditions of Southwick early Saturday morning. Luke qualified an impressive 15th place and set his focus on the racing. When the first moto began, he got off to an average start and was running 17th place by the end of lap two. Luke was eager to get into the top ten for the first time this year and began to charge. He looked fast and smooth and was able to make his way into the top fifteen by the
halfway point. As time dwindled down, Luke kept on pushing and was able to make up a couple more positions before the checkers flew. He would take 12th place. In the second moto, Luke got a little bit of a better start and was running around 15th early on. He made his way into 14th quickly and was focused on getting into that top ten. Luke began to creep up on Kawasaki rider, Cianciarulo and was pressuring him for 13th. He was able to make the pass and even picked off another before the two laps to go signal came out. As the lap went on, Luke knew he had more and was able to charge into the 11th place position. With one lap to go, Luke made another quick pass and was sitting 10th. Luke would take home 9th due to another rider’s crash by the tie the checkered flag flew. Luke would take 8th overall at Southwick.
