Broc knew that Southwick was going to be a challenge but was not ready for the long list of local riders to be in front of him by the time the qualifying sessions had came to a close. Broc qualified a disappointing 17th and
knew he had his work cut out for him if he wanted to keep his podium streak alive. Tickle was hoping to turn his day around when the gate dropped for 450 moto one it did not look good. He was running outside the top twenty on the end of the first lap. Broc began making up some time and started to pass riders in front of him. His lap times were two to three seconds faster than the riders in front of him and it was mathematically inevitable that he make his way into the top fifteen. In just a few laps, Tickle was now sitting in 15th and had his eyes on the top ten after such a poor start. Broc was forty seconds off the leader as they neared the halfway point but was still making up ground on the riders in front of him. With five minutes left on the clock, Tickle was sitting in 12th and was determined to reach the top ten by the finish. He made a late moto charge and was able to make it happen, he would take 10th place. In moto two, Tickle got a similar start and was sitting around 20th place by the end of the first lap. In the next ten minutes, Broc made up some serious time and was nearing the top fifteen. He continued to charge and was sitting around 12th at the halfway point. With just five minutes left on the clock, Broc had secured his spot inside the top ten. With two minutes left on the timer, Tickle made a clean pass on Brayton for 8th postion. Broc would take 8th place by the time the checkers flew. His finishes of 10th and 8th were good enough for 8th overall at Southwick.
