The God’s of Southwick must’ve heard the call, as Martinez was blessed with a twelfth place start,
and taste of the front. Although the echo’s of surging RPM’s ricocheted and spread through the trees, the Rimrock, AZ native wasn’t faltering one bit through the first half’s majority. He still sat 13th at the 17 minute mark. Talking about putting
the anchor into the ground, and withstanding all forms of abuse, Martinez was steadily running remarkable lap times, hitting the 2:14 mark as his best. The Arizona Cardinal would have a highlighted finish of his career, placing 13th and ready for the second moto. Let’s double down on the hand that was dealt for moto one, and ante up to tenth! Martinez was setting a blister- ing pace inside the top ten, even though a third of the moto had already passed. Twelfth at the halfway point, Martinez wasn’t staggering at all due to the company that was near. Neck and neck with Broc Tickle, he was truly proving his worth to factory teams in the mechanics area. He would hang on for this outstanding finish, enough to garner a twelfth overall as the points were tallied. With a grin a mile wide, Martinez looks to improve as the tour heads on, and toss his name into the hat for some future top tens.
