He would improve his results the following year and eventually end up getting an opportunity with Troy Lee Designs KTM. At first just a fill in rider, his speed and results continued to progress which earning him a full time spot on the team. Being the only rider on the team right now due to an injured Jessy Nelson, It appears Mitchell has taken it to the next level this 2016 SX season. He is riding faster than we have ever seen him before and proving he can run the pace by posting qualifying times inside the top 5. Unfortunately for Oldenburg, he has also hit the ground every weekend thus far. If he can keep it on two wheels and avoid any major mistakes, we may see the lone TLD KTM rider earn his first career podium before the season comes to an end.
