EXERCISE
There are some key rules to developing Good Thinking. It is a good idea to have those key rules posted somewhere that children can see them frequently.
In the Exercise portion of the story, the effort necessary to develop Good Thinking is outlined.
Good Thinking demands that you be honest with yourself as well as with others.
Good Thinking demands that you take personal responsibility for your emotions and actions.
Good Thinking demands that you do what is in your best self-interest.
Good Thinking demands that you be realistic in your demands of yourself and others.
It is the effort that is required to change Stinky to Good thinking that frustrates many of us. We understand why we should change and even how we can change but are unwilling to do what is necessary to change. Most of us would rather put up with the unhappiness our “Stinky Thinking” causes rather than accept the need for change and then do what is necessary to change. This is the phenomenon that ultimately caused the King in the story so much sorrow.
