287) JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE BEADED BALLGOWN & DRESSING GOWN

• Our jaws dropped when we saw this exclusive Japanese set, as it almost impossible to find the
fabulous blue dressing gown which originally accompanied the pink satin ball gown
• What we find so intriguing about this set is that it reflects a singularly Japanese aesthetic which
shows a tasteful combination of fabric colors and textures of the era
• This set has been seen a very few times in Japanese Market auctions. Because the pink ball gown
has appeared on its own in both the Japanese and US collector markets, we feel the gown might
have originally been sold as a separate item, without the dressing gown
• The gorgeous ball gown on its own is extremely hard to find. You might have seen the ball gown
documented in various Barbie Rarity books, and was featured in a few past Doll Attic auctions
• The luscious pink satin of the ball gown is a heavier weight satin than the satin found in the
Enchanted Evening gown.
• The hand beaded bodice is absolutely exquisite
• There is a tiny light brown age spot on the satin on the left side of the gown and one near the
hem, does not detract on display
• There are a few loose beads on bodice which is commonly seen with this fragile gown
• The rarely seen untagged blue dressing gown is in near mint to mint condition
• The fabric is a delicate pale blue nylon which is embellished with a white flocked floral pattern
• The ruffled portrait collar is in fabulous condition
