Ereonora Eleanor Kaimanu; was the first of three women permitted to
sign te Tiriti O Waitangi. She is the grandaughter of renowned Rangatira,
Papahia. At her death Ereonora was described as a "strange mixture of
violence and kindness, once ruling the tribes with a rod of iron".
