would always go to town to collect her mums pension. The corned
meat she bought would be salted again, put into a flour bag, then Puti David Murray
levered up high into the pine tree so that the flies wouldn't get to it.
Putis steam puddings which she made on Sundays were exceptional. She spent ages
making her suet from raw fat, then she would prepare the pudding for Sunday callers who
came to see her mum.

WW1, during the influenza epidemic. He lived in Pamapuria opposite the
present school, in a large two storied house of fine quality. Because the district
had no marae, his home was used to hold tangis. He was described as a small
energetic guy. He represented his people in many council and district hui and
meetings and mentioned in council reports, also by Joseph Matthews.
