Timoti Iehu Busby; was skilled at working horses resulting in contracts with
the local council. When the water pipeline from Okahu Falls to Kaitaia was
being built Timoti was contracted to carry the pipes by horse drawn carts up to
the site during the mid 1930's. It was a big job that lasted several months. With
many of the Far North roads in a dire condition well into the 1930's especially
during the winter months, teams of horses were often the only realistic option
                                                                                               Timoti Puhipi
                          for moving heavy loads.
Timoti had been a beloved patriarch of the whanau and a respected elder of his people, an astute
gentleman, a bit of a perfectionist and staunch in his tikanga and history.
Timoti marena Winifred Ruth Faithfull [2084] [MRIN: 881]. Winifred was born
about 1899 and died on 18 May 1963 aged about 64.

Ruth Busby; was never one to shy away from a job that needed doing, she
could often be found at the back of the house chopping iron hard ti tree for her
stove, this turned out to be perfect training for the wood chopping competitions
she later entered when the annual A&P show rolled into town, by all accounts
                          she "cleaned up" the competition.
