Talk of Sovereignty
Talk of sovereignty has become more popular in the recent years. I recall when
the concept was considered crazy or impossible. Of course, it is as misunderstood
as it is intriguing. Unfortunately, it is misinterpreted by layman and government
employees who figure a man can’t be a man without control via codes and laws.
The growing interest in sovereignty is due to unjust governmental regulations and
intrusion into the lives of people that would seemingly like to enjoy life, liberty
and some kind of happiness.
Sovereignty – 1. Supreme dominion, authority, or rule. 2. The supreme political
authority of an independent state itself.
Autonomy – the quality or state of being self governing; esp. 1: the right of self
government; 2: a self-governing state; 3: self directing freedom and esp. moral
independence.
Liberty – 1: the quality or state of being free, a: the power to do as one pleases, b:
Freedom from physical restraint c: freedom from arbitrary or despotic control d:
the positive enjoyment of social, political, or economic rights and privileges, e: the
power of choice.
Sovereignty cannot exist without autonomy. Due to free will we all should make
our own decisions. Yet, the government helps us to decide what we will or will
not do. And if religion plays a part, this concept becomes more disconcerted. In
essence, we still make our own decisions. Ironically, the decision is usually to give
our authority to someone else to make decisions for us. Free will is another way of
seeing autonomy and/or liberty. No man or document, in it’s entirety, has ever
given man any rights. This is obvious with the Black Man in the United States.
Therefore, man can only recognize what is and deal with it.
The pursuit of sovereignty is useless, if one must ask his oppressor for liberation.
The plight of Afrikans housed in America cannot be remedied with the deletion of
the straw man because police officers and government agencies are not
recognizing nonwhites as equals. If Afrikans in America are to win any situation,
they must be prepared with the knowledge of the following: know who you are;
know who your adversary is; and know the relationship that binds you.
