KFTL DUE DILIGENCE – Kingston, Jamaica
5.1.3 General Stocking Standard
The general storage of parts in the large inventory warehouse is poor.
There are (as advised to Trent) approximately 30,000-line items of parts in KFTL, with approx. 3,000-line items known to be obsolete.
Some large parts have had components removed. This is an ineffective and expensive way to buy major components, then have them cannibalised to meet demands of the maintenance and repair activities.
Some of the larger components also appeared to be excessive in quantity, and it was unsure to Trent just how often these would be consumed or just remain unnecessarily on the shelf tying up capital for KFTL.
