EQUATION OF A LINE

Equation of a line means, writing the relationship between x and y coordinates.

1) Equation Of A Line When Slope And A Point On The Line Are Known:

The equation of the line with slope m and passing through the point A (x 1, y 1) can be

found using

y-y 1 = m.(x-x 1)

where A(x 1, y 1) is a point on the line and m is the slope (gradient of the line)

Ex: Write the equation of the line which is passing through the point A with slope m, if
a) A(2,4) and m=3 b) A(-4,3) and m=1
