On the establishment of a national water administration command, the Cabinet meeting of 7 January
2020 was informed of the framework of the special command center and plan of action to prevent
water crises. The national water administration command was set to be part the structure under the
special command center. In times when the water crises is evaluated as Level 2, the command center
will have the authority to administer and manage, as well as evaluate the impact level and situation
of water crises, to propose to the Prime Minister to issue an order to set up a special command center
that is ad-hoc in nature, according to Article 24 of the Act on Water Resources of B.E. 2561.
From then, the National Water Administration Command that is set up would have to monitor the
problem situation and water situation very closely, while setting the approach and measures to solve
drought issues in risk areas. There must also be integration and connection of information between
parties to control and not further worsen the situation. Most especially, the issue of water consumption
is very crucial and should be least impacted.
