Refers to a specific thing.
It is used for plural nouns, uncountable nouns,
a specific person, object or place and when
we speak of only one such thing.
" The" is also used before the names of rivers,
mountain ranges, island groups, and union
states.
When we mention something for the first time,
we use "a" or "an". When we mention it again,
we use "the".
