DANCE & DRAMA
Dance
After Juliet
After Juliet offered a powerful and uplifting
continuation of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet,
spotlighting Rosaline – Juliet’s cousin and Romeo’s
former love – as she confronts grief and finds
resilience amid Verona’s unrest. The cast delivered
compelling individual performances while excelling
as a dynamic ensemble, heightening the emotional
stakes and tension of a city still reeling from tragedy.
Through inventive use of voice, music, stage combat,
dance, and physical theatre, they brought Verona’s
charged atmosphere vividly to life, creating a richly
layered and emotionally resonant experience that
honoured the original while forging an exciting new
path.
Staged
The annual spring term Staged performance
showcases work from across the dance and drama
programme. With performances from A level drama
students, La Volta Dance company, jazz, ballet and
LAMDA courses, the event celebrated the hard work
and commitment that takes place in rehearsals,
lessons and activities throughout the year.
GCSE Drama Performances
The GCSE drama course features two
performance opportunities, with students opting
for performance and design pathways this year.
In October, Year 11 drama students performed
their devised work, exploring stories about women
through time, society’s expectations of teenagers
and school events. This was followed with extracts
from Diane Samuel’s play, Kindertransport in
March. Both events showcase the learning, progress
and careful preparation required for GCSE drama,
resulting in two highly impactful and engaging
nights of theatre.
