A Patriot’s view of the history and direction of our Country

On July 4 1776, a date familiar to every American citizen, the
Declaration of Independence was unanimously approved, “without
one dissenting colony”, signed by Congress President John Hancock
and so ordered “…proclaimed in each of the United States.” That has
a significant historical ring to it – the first reference of the United
States, not independent colonies. A historical date by vote,
signatures and distribution would follow. What is in our Declaration
of Independence? It is important to examine this document that
both freed colonies from an empire, and united them as a new
country. Of course, a war continued until independence was won;
however independence now belonged to the united and
independent sovereign states.
Not only did the Declaration of Independence sever all ties with
and governance by England, it also detailed the compelling need for
such decision and action, defined both self-evident and unalienable
rights – sacred; and, moreover, advised the rest of the world that a
new country, the United States of America was created and severed
