A Patriot’s view of the history and direction of our Country

                       On July 4 1776, a date familiar to every American citizen, the
                   Declaration of Independence was unanimously approved, “without

                   one dissenting colony”, signed by Congress President John Hancock
                   and so ordered “…proclaimed in each of the United States.” That has

                   a significant historical ring to it – the first reference of the United
                   States, not independent colonies. A historical date by vote,

                   signatures and distribution would follow. What is in our Declaration

                   of Independence? It is important to examine this document that
                   both freed colonies from an empire, and united them as a new
                   country.  Of course, a war continued until independence was won;

                   however independence now belonged to the united and

                   independent sovereign states.
                       Not only did the Declaration of Independence sever all ties with

                   and governance by England, it also detailed the compelling need for
                   such decision and action, defined both self-evident and unalienable

                   rights – sacred; and, moreover, advised the rest of the world that a
                   new country, the United States of America was created and severed

                   from England. From this date to surrender of England’s army at
