The PI Guy Launches New Online Course - Essential Business Basics for New Private Investigators
(John Morris – EVCO Investigations - CO / The PI Guy)
Ever wonder how to become a private investigator, or do you know anyone who is just starting as a PI? My course,
Essential Business Basics for Private Investigators, will help you begin your journey to your exciting career as a
professional private investigator. This course is for the serious in mind who want to know how to start a private
investigator business. This course has six primary topics. While many of these could be taught in their own course,
taught together you get the most benefit, the biggest bang, for your buck. There were very few resources available to
the new private investigator and even fewer veteran private detectives that were willing to give up the secrets to
        potential competitors.
(John is a close friend and colleague – close, as in a couple miles – and we highly recommend this and other related
courses he is developing. Catch him on YouTube for 10-minute PI tips every week)

Private Investigator License: Benefit or Boondoggle?
With the continuation of Colorado’s licensing program vetoed by the governor last July, and coming to a statutory end on
08/31/2021 (and to be more confusing, current licenses expire 05/31/2021), this article is timely and includes the flux
Colorado PIs now find themselves in. From PI Now…
In researching this bill and in watching the discussions take place online, we realized just how important the discussion is
on licensure for private investigators. We took a deeper look into the ins and outs of licensure and why many PIs say
private investigators need to be licensed while others are vehemently opposed. Keep reading to learn more about the
benefits and pitfalls of licenses for private investigators.

Federal Court Agrees: Prosecutors Can’t Keep Forensic Evidence Secret from Defendants
(Bill Elliott, CLI, CCDI – Elliott & Associates in NM)
When the government tries to convict you of a crime, you have a right to challenge its evidence. This is a fundamental
principle of due process, yet prosecutors and technology vendors have routinely argued against disclosing how forensic
technology works. For the first time, a federal court has ruled on the issue, and the decision marks a victory for civil
        liberties.

Arrest made in 1982 deaths of two young women near Breckenridge
Kudos to long time PPIAC member Charlie McCormick, who never gave up. He gave a presentation on this case at the
        2016 PPIAC conference in Westminster.
A Colorado man is in custody in the 1982 deaths of two young women near Breckenridge. "I have no problem working it
to the bitter end. You can't walk away from it, or I can't. Haven't wanted to. Tomorrow's another day, and you got stuff
to do, and you see what might happen." – Charlie McCormick, Denver 7 interview last year.

(in a subsequent update, information was the arrest came after using genealogical DNA to connect the suspect to DNA
        collected from the homicide investigations)
