DRUNK DRIVING SIMULATOR
Lee County Sheriff Tracy Cater and his staff will provide a Drunk Driving
Simulation Track for fairgoers. Using virtual reality goggles the driver will
maneuver a golf cart through a preset track. Driving in a simulated drunk
mode, the simulation demonstrates the dangerous effects of DUI/DWI driving,
such as delayed response to controls and narrowing of the effective field of
view. This event brings the "do not drink and drive" message home.

               4-H TRADITIONAL LATINO DANCE PERFORMANCE
The Magetsi 4-H Club will be performing a number of traditional Mexican
dances with dress that would be standard for a celebration or fiesta. This will
take place on Saturday at the amphitheater stage. The group is made up of
Lee County students and led by Myrna Rodriguez. Magetsi 4-H Club has
performed at numerous venues throughout North Carolina including the
annual “La Fiesta Del Pueblo” in Raleigh.

               FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
Got a worn, torn, and tattered American flag stuffed in a box that you don’t
know what to do with? Bring it to the Lee Regional Fair for the Flag
Retirement Ceremony. When “Old Glory” becomes worn, torn, faded, or
badly soiled, it’s time to be replaced with a new flag, and the old flag should
be "retired" with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation's flag.

American Heritage Girls Troop NC 1715 and Trail Life Troop NC 2717, both
of Sanford, will perform the flag retirement ceremony on Saturday,
September 15 at 6:30 pm at the Lions Field. Flags for the ceremony can be
dropped off at the commercial exhibit hall during Fair week. Information
about the flag (i.e. where it flew, how long, any memorable events which
happen at that site, etc.) can be attached to the flag and will be used in the
ceremony. Troop members will prepare the flags for retirement and will
maintain a vigil over the fire until all traces of the flag remnants are
destroyed. Once the fire burns out, the Troops will bury the ashes. For more
information about the flag retirement ceremony, contact Anne Greenaway at
