Edwin Rosskam (1903–1985), and Louise Rosskam documented American life during the Great Depression. The Rosskams were part of a group of talented photographers hired by Roy Stryker, the head of the FSA between 1935 and 1944, during what is often called the “Golden Age of Documentary Photography.” Many of their photos taken while working for the Government agencies are now in the archives of the Library of Congress, and are part of the public domain. Lee Russell (1903–1986) was an American photographer and photojournalist, best known for his work for the Farm Security Administration (FSA). His technically excellent images documented the ethnography of various American classes and cultures. Lee created some of the iconic images produced by the FSA, including photographic studies of San Augustine, Texas in 1939 and Pie Town, New Mexico in 1940. (Photo shot in Ray, ND, USA, 1937.)

Denise Ferris is an artist living on the Monaro in country New South Wales, Australia.
She is currently head of the School of Art at The Australian National University, Canberra. Prior to her appointment as a lecturer in Photography, she completed her doctorate at

John F. Vachon (1914–1975) was an American photographer who worked for the FSA. The hallmark of this style of photography is the portrayal of people and places encountered

David Haas was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He briefly worked in a commercial photography studio in Chicago until a career change took him to medical school. Haas currently resides and works in Wilson, North Carolina as
