Artist and storyteller Jessica Hines studied photography at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree. Her work has been widely exhibited and published in North and South America, throughout Asia, Europe and Oceania. Hines, the recipient of several prestigious awards, most recently won the PDN Photo Annual 2013 for best Personal photography, New York City, New York. (Photo shot in Paris, France, 2010. A native of Missouri, John Trotter worked as a newspaper photojournalist for fourteen years until March 24, 1997 when he was nearly beaten to death by a half-dozen young men while on assignment for The Sacramento Bee. During his long recovery from that attack he photographed at Sierra Gates in Granite Bay, California, a brain injury rehabilitation residence, where he had lived after his release from the hospital. Jodi Bieber’s iconic photograph of young mutilated Afghan woman – Aisha – featured on the cover of Time Magazine in August 2010 was awarded the 54th annual World Press Photo of the Year. 43-44 Lee Grant is an Australian photographer who lives and works in Australia and Asia. Lee has won several photography awards including the prestigious William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize in 2010. From 2012-2014 Lee was a member of the Australian photo- collective, Oculi. She is represented the highly esteemed Institute for Artist Management. Grant has a degree in Anthropology and a Master in Visual Arts from the Australian National University. Lori Grinker, born in New York, is an award-winning documentary photographer. Internationally exhibited and published, her work has garnered many awards. A lecturer

Roberto Frankenberg was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from a Dutch father and a Brazilian mother. He lives in Paris, and as a freelance photographer, working closely with several French, European and American publications. Walker Evans (1903–1975) was an American photographer best known for his work for the Farm Security Administration (FSA) documenting the effects of the Great Depression. Many of his works are in the permanent collections of museums and have been the subject of retrospectives at such institutions as The Metropolitan Museum of Art or George Eastman House.
