If you have ever suffered from a high level of
stress, anxiety or a panic attack, you know what a
horrible feeling it is. The mind will not stop. The
emotions are out of control and all over the place.
Your heart may be racing. Your neck and shoulders
may be tight and painful. Sleep may be difficult. It
may upset your stomach or intestines. The list can
go on and on.
What many people do not realize is that beyond
the previously mentioned symptoms, other changes
are also happening in the body. This will decrease
the efficacy of your immune system. It may upset
the delicate balance of your endocrine (hormonal)
system. Your adrenal glands can become fatigued
making you even more susceptible to stress. Your
threshold for pain decreases. You can become frigid
or impotent.
Individuals who have experienced this can feel
helpless. They do not understand what is
happening in the body during stress. They do not
know what causes anxiety or a panic attack and
worse still they do not know what they need to do
to get better.
