To effectively manage the autoimmune
syndrome, the influences which have been
damaging the wall of the small intestine must be
removed. This many include decreasing stress,
abstaining from alcohol and talking to your doctor
about certain medications. It is also necessary to
look at your diet. Lectins, a protein found in many
foods, can contribute greatly to leaky gut syndrome
in certain people. Lectins, their effects and which
foods contain them are beyond the scope of this
book. I highly recommend the book The Plant
Paradox by Dr. Steven Gundry if you wish to better
understand how diet can contribute to autoimmune
diseases.
Pharmaceuticals
Most pharmaceuticals that are prescribed for
autoimmune diseases work by decreasing
inflammation. This works to decrease the amount
of tissue damage and the level of pain. The down
side of this approach is that by decreasing
inflammation, you are also decreasing the immune
