     Acupuncture and the
            Extracellular Matrix
Acupuncture works on the extracellular matrix.
During acupuncture, a series of sterile needles about as
thin as a human hair are placed through the skin into the
extracellular matrix. The needles are spun so that their
shafts grab onto and pull the extracellular matrix. The
needles are then spun some more which pulls on and
begins to break down the extracellular matrix.
Due to this breakdown, the process of breaking down
and then reforming the extracellular matrix is
reinitialized. Think of the process like rebooting a
            computer.
The extracellular matrix is broken down. Toxins and
waste products are released from around the cell and
then the matrix is reformed to a healthier state so that
nutrients can more easily reach the cell and waste
products are more efficiently swept away.
