An Analogy
Lets use another analogy to help you understand.
Imagine you live in a house that never gets cleaned.
Garbage, dirt, old mail, dirty clothes, etc begin to pile
up. First they are in a few places. Over time they are in
more and more places. It may eventually get so bad that
your house looks like a cross between a garbage dump
and a hoarder's home.
Because of this toxic, chaotic environment, you
have more difficulty finding and preparing food. You
also are surrounded by an environment which may
contribute to making you sick. This is what your cells
can become like if the extracellular matrix cannot
consistently clean and maintain itself in a healthy state.
