                  EXERCISE 1 (BUDGETING AND CONTROL)

                  UPDATE

The Board of Trigg Adventure is keen to grow the business within Fawland, especially with respect
                  to gaining commercial work.

At the recent Board meeting Sally Gomez (Sales Director) explained that, each year, there was an
industry-wide conference / expo for outdoor toys, games and exercise equipment aimed at
children. In previous years Trigg had sent some members of its domestic sales team to attend but
Sally argued that Trigg were missing out on a huge opportunity here for marketing to commercial
                  clients.

Ben Darcy (Production Director) agreed and added that he had heard via a contact that the
Fawland Government were planning on sending a speaker to explain the FITKIDS initiative in more
detail and that many staff from schools, gyms and local government procurement offices would
                  be going.
Tony Trigg (Managing Director) also agreed that this was too good an opportunity to miss and
added that he would arrange a meeting with the organisers to see if Trigg Adventures could be
one of the sponsors of this year’s event.

                  TRIGGER

This morning Freddie sent you the following email:
                  From: Freddie Williams (Finance Manager)

                  Date: Today
                  Subject: Childhood Toys Expo

As you may be aware, Tony Trigg has entered into discussions with the organisers of the
Childhood Toys Expo with a view to Trigg Adventure sending more delegates and even co-
sponsoring this annual exhibition and symposium. The official aims of the Expo are “bringing
together manufacturers and service providers with consumers and professionals interested in the
technologies, innovations, research, and policy that is driving the childhood outdoor toys industry
                  today and into the future”.

As well as hosting our own exhibition area, sponsorship would result in the Trigg logo being used
on all official marketing and expo literature and would give the opportunity for the company to
provide and expert to present a talk.
