Lean production
6.1 What is lean production?
Lean production is closely related to quality practices such as Kaizen, TQM and JIT.
It is a philosophy of management based on cutting out waste and
unnecessary activities, such as those below:
Over- Defective
production Inventory Waiting units
Motion Transportation Over-processing
6.2 Characteristics of lean production
1 Production in smaller batches leading to quick set up and flexibility.
HR focuses on empowering staff giving them a career path and job for

Employees trained in all aspects resulting in flexibility and problem

4 Supplier expertise harnessed, fair price agreed and JIT operated.
