                           Generic strategies







               3.1 Introduction

               This model, developed by Porter, examines the different ways that an organisation
               can achieve a competitive advantage in its market.


               Porter argued that businesses could adopt one of three strategies to gain competitive
               advantage.  Each business can adopt the strategy that best fits their individual
               circumstances.
