Apportionment for periods not ordinarily
resident in the primary residence
• An adjustment must be made when a person has occupied a
residence as his primary residence for only a part of the period of
ownership (after 1 October 2001).
• The capital gain or loss to be disregarded in these circumstances
must be determined with reference to the period during which the
person concerned was ordinarily resident in the residence.
• Certain periods of absence from the primary residence are deemed
as still being periods of primary residence
