CIMA MAY 2019 – MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY
For the new technology CSFs for JORD could include the following, in no order of priority:
Design quality – customers will value the strong emphasis with the development of new
technology for design purposes
Brand name ‐ customers will prefer to deal with a well‐known business, particularly when
dealing with new technology and new user interface
Reputation – customers will feel that they are dealing with experts given the history and
level of expertise and experience in prefabricated house manufacture that JORD can
demonstrate
Expertise and experience of staff – customers will need to feel safe in the hands of JORD
personnel particularly in the critical area of design and customer interface
Manufacturing process – JORD expertise and state of the art manufacturing process will be
supported by the most up to date design software. This will be critical in securing customer
confidence
Minimising lead times – by reinforcing our approach of working with the customers the new
design process will complement JORD in striving toward the minimisation of lead times,
essential to engender customer confidence in the functionality of this new process.
Completion accuracy of installation – a key objective of JORD is the tight control from
customer order to completion and installation. The new technology will assist the
achievement of this objective, given that customers will be able to virtually “tour” the new
installation prior to manufacture at the earliest opportunity.
It is important to recognise that the successful implementation of this new design process will
differentiate JORD from its competitors. This will achieve advantage (subject to the skills of the
personnel and reliability of the system) in an increasingly competitive industry.
