               6.1   The project initiation document (PID)

                             A Project Initiation Document is the master plan of a project and acts as
                             the guide throughout the project. It holds all the information needed to
                             start and deliver a project. It effectively pulls together the BCD and the
                             detailed project plans.

               As well as the advantages from the BCD it will have more detailed content such as:

               Clear responsibilities
                                                         Facilitates responsibility accounting

                                                         Clear path
               Detailed schedules
                                                         Improved efficiency

                                                         Clear control points
               Targets and measures
                                                         Early identification of problems

               Exit plans
                                                         Easier exit for the project team
