Managing strategic change
Change management styles
Change of any kind (but especially if transformational change is needed) will often
encounter resistance from within the organisation. Kotter and Schlesinger suggest a
number of ways in which this might be overcome:
Participation
Facilitation and Education and
support communication
Manipulation
and co-optation Power/coercion
Negotiation
As to which of these approaches is best, this will often depend on the context of the
change.
